BILLINGTON

For many centuries Billington was a tiny hamlet of Leighton Buzzard; standing on a ridge ovelooking the Ouzel valley and still has its 17th century manor farm.  It is unusual in that its inhabitants elected the rector here in Victorian times for its pleasant, but largely rebuilt, church with a little bell tower and old south door.  It must have been of some importance at some time as, in 1297, it had a bowyer (maker or dealer of bows), by the name of Ernulf, its own constable and wardens for its church.
