I have his will. His eldest son moved to London around the 1780s where he and his wife Frances Stockings had a number of children and they are registered in Dr William's Library. His eldest son was Francis STRANGE. Some of his other sons moved to Southwold with him, John STRANGE and Samuel STRANGE. Eventually either they or their children also moved to London. The father of Francis STRANGE who died at Southwold was Francis STRANGE, baptised 1691 died 1774 (His Will) and buried at All Saints, South Elmham. His father was also Francis STRANGE who died at Spexhall, Suffolk in 1726. His father was Francis STRANGE who died and was buried at Wissett, Suffolk in 1695. STRANGE is not a Suffolk name and my STRANGE family appear to be the only ones in Suffolk around the early 1700s. Does anybody else have an interest in them? The Will of Francis STRANGE died 1790 - he was the son of the Francis STRANGE who was buried in All Saints, Southelmham in 1774 and the grandson of the Francis STRANGE who died in 1726 and the great grandson of the Francis STRANGE who died in Wissett in 1695. Will of Thomas Strange was written 4 August 1522,proved 22 September 1522 at the Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk. The executor and sole beneficiary was Agnes STRANGE his wife. Whether he has any relevance to my Francis STRANGE or to Marg's family of the same ilk (but not related) is not going to be easy to prove as the registers for Weybread start at 1694 - Karen Stewart Wickham Market - All Saints Church National Burial Index 1608 Aug 23 Amy STRANGE 1611 Jan 14 Andrewe STRANGE 1620 Nov 11 Margerie STRANGE Wickham Skeith This covers the baptisms and burials at Wickham Skeith from 1788 to 1810. The following are the only STRANGE/ STRAINGE entries given in this time period. Fortunately David Weston and Peter Davidson have transcribed the Parish Registers; Baptisms, Marriages and Burials for Wickham Skeith, 1685-1900 and they are online at the Genuki site. From 1788 up to 1812 a John and Virtue (nee POTTER) STRANGE had a number of children baptized here. Their first child baptized at Wickham Skeith, named John, was on 19 March 1788. John and Virtue's married at Wickham Skeith: John STRANGE of the parish of Stoke Ash, singleman, and Virtue POTTER of this parish, spinster, were married in this Church by banns 27 March 1787 by J. BRAND, Vicar; both bride and groom signed own names; witnesses George and Antonina POTTER; George signed own name, Antonina made mark 'X'. John and Virtue are the only STRANGEs in Wickham Skeith through this period. It strikes me as likely that you will find William is their son and baptized at Wissett. In addition to John Jr., John and Virtue (nee POTTER) STRANGE had the following children also baptized at Wickham Skeith: 1790 Jun 06 Dinah, (surname spelled STRAINGE) 1792 Apr 06 Richard, born 4 Mar 1792, received into Church 9 Jun 1792 1795 Apr 12 Robert, born 3 Dec 1794 1797 May 07 Mary, born 20 Apr 1797 Robert STRANGE b. 1810, christened 1813 with siblings William and Susan., Father Richard, mother Mary BRONWIN. The Batch Number this is under appears to only cover 1821; there are no other NANTICK or STRANGE references in that year. From Stuart Brown 1 Robert STRANGE of Creeting?
