The Complete Car Modeller by Gerald A Wingrove
Volumes 1 (1993 reprint) and 2 (1994 reprint) The
two books make the most wonderful collection of articles
as to how to make a 'real' model. The examples
provided are stunning and the description of the methods
employed will enable someone with a suitably equipped
workshop. Gerald Wingrove is a 'Master Craftsman' who has achieved international
fame as a model automobile maker and as an author on the subject and is one of the few model makers to ever receive the Order of the British Empire for Craftsmanship. These
are ex-library hardback copies but the only marks are
on the inner paper where the date-stamp sheet was
(and now carries a Withdrawn/sold stamp) and on the
outer with a stamp showing library branch circulation. Both
have good foil covers which have protected the
jackets well; one has been lightly secured to the cover with
'Magic Tape'; the other is completely loose fitted.

How to go Railway Modelling by Norman Simmons
3rd Edition, reprint, 1980 All you need to know
in order to begin railway modelling as a serious and
absorbing hobby is contained within the pages of this
book. Railway Modeller described the first edition
as 'a textbook of permanent value' and this new, completely
revised, reset and updated version, which contains entirely
fresh pictures, will be equally valuable to all of today's
newcomers to this pastime. It covers topics such as
choice of site, layout planning and building, deciding
upon scale and gauge, electrical equipment, track laying,
scenic settings, locomotives, rolling stock and operating
techniques. It is a thoroughly practical handbook
for all ages. Fine condition in a foil outer jacket;
it has not been attached to the book in any way but
has afforded protection from new, unclipped and, as
far as I can detect, totally unmarked on all of its
216 pages - a treasure!

Landscape Modelling by Barry Norman 1986 An
inspiring book, visually pleasing but also very practical in its advice
on techniques for model railway scenery. Although the author is very
skilled, and the book illustrates some of the most convincing model
scenes ever created, the author does not "talk down" to the beginner
and the methods and ideas he describes are easy to understand and adopt. Copies
of this book are on Amazon at a ridiculous £37.00 to
a positively ludicrous £356.73 plus shipping! This
must indicate it is a book worth having but you could
buy it new from Waterstones for £8.95. This near
perfect copy is available for much less! It is
paperback with 72 pages, published: by Wild Swan Publications Ltd ISBN-10: 0906867444.

Record of Sports published by the Royal Insurance
Company, Limited April 1911 It details the records
in just about every sport imaginable up to the end of
1910; including from angling and archery through ladies
skating and motor yachting to wrestling and yachting.
It also details the First-Class cricket fixtures
for 1911. It is a little jaded on the edges and minor
looseness in its binding but I should imagine it has
been well used by a sport enthusiast as its pages are
clean and intact. An absolute treasure trove of
information of sporting activities almost 100 years
ago. This is a rare find, this reflects
in its price which is fair by current market values.
