The CTC Book of Cycling by John Whatmore 1st Edition 1983
Surely this must be in every cyclists collection?  The first part provides a general guide to cycling and the second part details 60 circular routes over the UK.  Unfortunately its jacket is missing but the brown cover is in fine order with no bumping of corners or sign of spine pull.  A telephone number for the CTC is written on the inside of the cover otherwise there is no mark-up or inscription, the text block of the 140 pages is fine.

Contains over 250 pictures within its 192 pages.  There is an inscribed date 21-5-58 which ties in with the imprint date of 1958.  There is no jacket and the cover is a bit scruffy with bumped corners and spine pull.  However, there is a wealth of interesting monochrome pictures on absolutely clean pages.

Cycling for Health and Points For Cyclists by Sir Frank Bowden, 1st Bt, FRGS - 1913
Frank Bowden was born 30th Jan 1848 and died 25th April 1925.  The fabric cover of this hardback book is rather tired with fading and spine pulls, there is heavy foxing on the front and rear flyleaves and the binding paper has split at both front and read, the fabric is holding the binding intact. The front flyleaf is inscribed Mr J Ballantyne, Nursery Road, Southgate, Middlesex.. The text block is yellowed and spotted and a couple of pages are very lightly spotted.  Although not in perfect order this book is probably quite scarce now so this may be your only opportunity to obtain this part of cycling history.

Cycling for Health 1913  £4.00

The Cyclist and the Law by P.F. Carter-Ruck and I.R. Mackrill 1953
This rare little 1st edition hardback book does not have a jacket, is stamped and inscribed on the flyleaf.  Unfortunately there is damage to the corners (about an inch triangle) on three pages and indelible margin and text marks on four pages otherwise the 171 pages are in excellent condition with slight dust marks on the text block. Priced accordingly.

  £2.00

Dunlop Guide to Great Britain 1955 - Complete Gazetteer - 11th Edition
The jacket is a little split at the spine but this 816-page treasure of Town descriptive summaries, Street plans, London Exits, Hotels, Rapairers, Parking Places etc, etc is a useful historical record. The pages are in perfect order with no fading or spotting on the text block and the original red cord mounted page  marker is intact with its eclectic Daimler Hire Ltd advertisement.

Dunlop Guide 11th Edition 1955  £4.00

Combines & Harvesters - Photographic History by Jeff Creighton
Published by Motorbooks International 1996.  It carries a stamp that says "DAMAGED" on the front and rear leaves but the only evidence of anything untoward is a tiny stain at the top of the jacket under the plastic coating, other than this it appears to be as new.

Combines & Harvesters  £4.00

Vintage Farm Machines by John Vince - Shire Album 1
The cover has slightly chipped edges and a crease on one corner otherwise the booklet is in nice condition; second edition 1978.

 Veteran & Vintage Cars  £3.00

A Century in Oil - The "Shell" Transport and Trading Company 1897-1997
Superbly written by Stephen Howarth, this excellent copy of probably the most important study of the history of the oil industry has an unclipped jet black dust jacket which is marred by slight creasing of the slight extension beyond the hardback cover and a what looks like a production fault on the rear surface. The 397 pages are in fine condition with not a mark to even suggest that it has ever been read, there is no inscription or annotation.

The cover price in 1997 was £25.00 so this must be very well priced.
